Blattner Energy announced today their selection as EPC contractor by Sempra U.S. Gas & Power, a leading developer of wind and solar energy, to construct the 75-MW Broken Bow II wind project in Custer County, Nebraska. Upon completion, the project will support Nebraska Public Power District’s goal of having 10 percent of its energy supply generated from new renewable energy resources by 2020.

“We’re honored to collaborate with Sempra U.S. Gas & Power and support their commitment to expanding renewable energy in the state of Nebraska,” said Jeremy Wacker, director of Blattner Energy’s wind market. “Sempra U.S. Gas & Power shares Blattner Energy’s dedication to safety, quality construction and stewardship of the local environment and community.”

“The selection of Blattner Energy as our EPC contractor is a notable step forward and a significant milestone for Sempra U.S. Gas & Power’s Broken Bow II wind project,” said Scott Furgerson, vice president of construction for Sempra U.S. Gas & Power. “We are looking forward to delivering a new source of clean energy to Nebraska consumers later this year.”

The 75-MW Broken Bow II project will include 43 GE 1.7-megawatt turbines and is Blattner’s fourth wind project in Nebraska. Construction crews will break ground in early April with substantial completion expected mid-September. As EPC contractor, Blattner Energy will provide design and construction of access roads, erosion and sediment, foundations, underground collection system, a 115 kV substation, operations and maintenance building and erection of the turbines.

To date, Blattner has more than 21,000 megawatts installed and under contract across North America, encompassing more than 150 wind and solar projects built without missing a single commercial operation date.
