Communities Come Together at Golfing Fundraiser
The 15th annual Blattner Family Foundation Golf Tournament Fundraiser raised $45,000 in donations for the Avon Fire Department and Albany Fire Department in central Minnesota.
“This donation to the fire departments was made possible by the caring and generous people and businesses that supported this event,” said Henry Blattner, senior estimator at Blattner Energy and the primary organizer of the tournament for the Blattner Family Foundation. “I feel fortunate to be in a position to help facilitate this tremendous act of giving back to our communities – all while having fun.”
The Albany and Avon Police Departments raised and donated $2,000 at the event. More than 115 companies participated this year. The Co-sponsor was Blattner Energy, Inc. that contributed $2,000 or more. There were also 25 Major Sponsors and each of these companies contributed $500 or more. Since 2001, the Blattner Family Foundation Golf Tournament Fundraiser has raised more than $521,000 for the Albany Fire Department and Avon Fire Department. This money has helped the fire departments purchase updated necessary equipment.
The tournament was held on August 8, 2016 at the Albany Golf Club. The tournament featured an option for golfers to take strokes off of their score by making an additional donation, and there was also a skills completion at various holes in the categories of closest to the pins, longest putts, and longest drives.
Thank you to all the companies, golfers and volunteers that made this fundraiser a success this year and congratulations to the winning team, Angie Desautel, Dawn Blattner, Harold Desautel, and Paul Wellenstein.
