Employees of Blattner Energy Package More Than 100,000 Meals
The employees of Blattner Energy, a power generation contractor and the leading installer of renewable energy in North America, packed 103,498 meals that were donated to Second Harvest Heartland and distributed to Twin Cities area food shelves and agencies.
More than 300 employees and their significant others assembled, packed and loaded the meals, totaling 15,500 pounds, with the guidance of Kids Against Hunger to create highly nutritious meals for local children and their families. One in 10 Minnesotans experience the stress of hunger and these meals provide a stable nutritional base for those facing hunger.
The community giveback event was a part of Blattner Energy’s annual, company-wide leadership and development conference because of the value the company and its employees place on character and concern for others – a cornerstone of the Blattner culture. Each year, the company partners with a local organization to create an opportunity for its employees and their significant others to give back to the community.
“This is just one way we can contribute to serving the needs of others and ultimately providing people with a wholesome meal,” said Dave Blattner, legal counsel of Blattner Energy. “We appreciate the teamwork of our employees, their significant others and all organizations involved in making this event a success.”
